THE NINTH BOOK OF PIERCY
Otherwise knows as 'the book of testosterone'

Then Jesus took Republicans on the mountain and gathered them around him. And he taught them, saying,

"Blessed are the poor in spirit. Blessed are the meek. Blessed are the merciful. Blessed are you who thirst for justice. Blessed are you who are persecuted. Blessed are you who suffer. When these things begin to happen, rejoice, for your reward will be great in Heaven."

And Simon Peter said, "But how does this affect the bottom line?"

And Philip said, "Truly, there is good money in helping the suffering; in a managed care sort of manner."

And John asked, "But what will my reward be on Earth?"

And Andrew said, "We can sell stuff, door-to-door, to the meek, oh yes we can."

And Matthew said nothing, for he was already calculating the profits he could make off of the persecuted.

And Judas said, "that poor in spirit thing? That doesn't mean without money, does it?"

Then one of the Pharisees, an expert in the law, said, "Yes, yes, all this is true, and we will have to provide a massive infrastructure to support it. And we will have to pay, well, those who design such an infrastructure. And I have a few ideas along this line...."

Thomas, who had missed the sermon, came to Jesus privately and said, "I was out pricing Caddies and ended up driving all the way here behind some pokey Colored punk in a beat up pick-up... anyway ...did you say anything important"

. . . And Jesus wept.
